hello!
it's been a very hectic week with all the CCTs and projects... think i've done average for most, could be better but could also be much worse so i can't complain too much.
Anyway, yesterday was Bukit Batok CIP performance.
i thought it was rather good. given the turnout rate and stuff. It was a nice experience for me too, with many first-times. It was the first time I was leading the moving of instruments up the lorry. Didn't do too good a job as it was my first time and it was rather messy, small instruments coming up before the large instruments and people slacking around. But I guess that's ok given my first try. i'll need much more help next time when we bring even more stuff. But anyway, I've sort of grasped how to position instruments best. (: And then, sat at the front of the lorry with lexus and the very funny uncle.
We were going to bukit batok east CC for performance...
Uncle: Hey you all going to mandai zoo to perform right?
Me: Yeah. We're playing to the lions.
lol...
Then...
Me: hey the others are up there in the CC already
Lexus: yeah. how did they get up there huh?
Uncle: alamak. what kind of question is that? obviously they flew up there right?
><
and much more... haha...
and the music he was listening to was really amusing as well...
so after that, we moved instruments, tuned our stuff and prepared a bit before dinner.
Dinner was rather fun as we got to chat around with friends which we very rarely had time to communicate with. Used that time to give much-needed briefings and I thought I did a rather good job there. woohoo! (: and it was fun talking to the scholars whom I think are really nice! I think Perc section is made up of very nice people!
We have:
1 Hong Kong-nese? (Me)
3 Chinese (Zhaolin, Chu Ming, Cui Cheng)
1 Taiwanese (Li Wei)
2 Malaysians (Julian, Zheng Hao? sorry forgot the name liao... oops)
2 Indonesians (Stanley, Denny)
2 Singaporeans (Shu Jian, Lexus)
not sure where Yao Lin is from but I've a feeling he's from Hong Kong. lol. he knows cantonese. and the malaysians too! (:
this is what i call a real mix of nationalities. haha.
anyway, we all had a great time. I thought it was a right way to let these new members have a try at performance in public cuz it was not so formal and so they could try out performing without fearing screw-ups. Of course, we all made screw-ups but i was really impressed, especially with Denny and Cui Cheng who played the drum set for the first time together with the orchestra. They hadn't tried it during practice and they just went to perform and they didn't do too bad a job too. esp. denny who learns really fast, he's really musically talented..
anyway, later on there was a perc performance of qin wang dian bing. I was quite nervous cuz we hadn't prac-ed the piece for 3 weeks but we did amazingly well. So I was rather pleased. We also ended quite well so that's a job well done! (:
After that, moving back was also a new experience as I sat at the back of the lorry with 3 other scholars. haha. FUN! it was very windy and nice after so much sweating in the moving of instruments and uploading... haha. had a nice talk with them...
hmm. think that's all i want to say bah. there are other things but i guess those can be left out. haha. biased account heh?
k. bye!
