Inter-class soccer

It was a great day for 3B and though it wasn't really the best position to get, we have done our best and proved that we can really be the fittest class of the batch... Though we were the surprise package in the group stages, beating all odds to proceed on to the knock-out stage, we didn't just stop there. We went on to beat 3F in the quarter-finals with a wonderful penalty by Gia and gave our best shot in the semi-finals and 3rd/4th placing, giving 3E and the other class (forgot) a real challenge. To be truthful, our team isn't exactly the most talented of the lot but it was through our spirit and dare to try that really got us so far. On the pitch, Jinghui was encouraging every form of good play by the team and everyone really gave their all. On the sidelines, lots of people took their time off to sit down and cheer for the team. There were around 15 who came to support, some left half-way but that isn't the point. We really cheered our hearts out, had lots of fun even on the stands with Lumpy's chem, Jie Liang's commentary and Jerald's errrr... well Jerald's Jerald. In the end, I guess it was really the class spirit which got us so far. Kudos to the team for playing so well too, even when we got a scare when Erdong's shoe tore and Xiong Wei had a cramp. Mark was really inspirational on the field. Gia was powerful. Xiong Wei gave much breadth to the team and Keng Yong had style. haha. There isn't really anyone in our class who can play in the goal and it takes much courage to take up that challenge. In the end, Keng Yong played a major role in the team, keeping out some vital goals and although he did make a few mistakes, it would have been much worst if we didn't have a keeper at all. Of course, there was Leonard who was so willing to step up as a substitute when we were in need of people... Everyone was just very great. Once again, I guess 3B has showed that we are a class which does not need class outings to be bonded together. We have showed that 3B is indeed a force to be reckoned with. We may not have the imba-ness of Jie Hao, the most sporty people, or even a really good goalkeeper. But in the end, we did our best. Everyone did their best and it was the class spirit which really won us the 4th position. It was a well-deserved result.

Sec3

Since I've been sooooo forgetful nowadays, i shall create a list of things which i've got to do b4 i forget again... ><

1. Collect my IC
2. Call piano teacher
3. Scan Sam stuff
4. Check RE ppt and script
5. Memorise RE script (again)... sigh...
6. Go for RE rehearsal on thur
7. Go for Rafflesian Spotlight on fri
8. Go for rehearsal on next tue
9. Collect $$$... omg. - KS bull, photocopying, history, SS... sian.
10. Go for PSL meeting tml
11. Go see 3B semi-final.

ok. so yet another year has ended. wow. this year has been a great one for me... it's been totally magnificent. haha. best since P6 i think... though i lost many friends from 2H just like i did from 6H, like Edward, Rich, Yingjie, Aaron, I've managed to stay in contact with them and make many more friends...

so here goes...

What characterizes Year 3, RI:

1. OBS.
It wasn't exactly the most leisurely type of camp. Though it can't be said that it's too tough either... But it was definitely a great bonding session with my group. got to know many people. Ivan and his weird mathematical skills of memorising 8 digit numbers after it had been mentioned once, Mark for his superb strength, Bojian for his interesting way of speaking, Eugene the cool guy... and many more... I guess it was my willingness to help those in need that allowed me to bond with this group so well. Of course, there were many others which helped me like Mark cuz im so weak. haha... but overall, it was a great experience and finishing OBS was such an achievement

2. MathRA
The introduction of RA was great in 2 ways. Firstly, it meant that I could be in a academically better class... It certainly made me want to study more... and although we aren't as mugger as 3C who are totally MUGGER (just look at their whiteboard before ccts... ><), 3B is great. and of course math RA allowed me to really see what is a MATH PRO with Barry, Huiyao, Vincent, He Shi and many more people as evidence. haha. They totally own. Learnt much more in this class than before.

3. 3B.
3B is a very interesting class with lots of talents and diversity. At one end, you have the loudspeakers like Kenneth Yong and Lumpy and at the other end, you have the imba people like Barry who got 4 subjects above 90. Then you have the people who are pro in chinese like Erdong and the china scholars and of course com pros like Long, Gia, Shu Jian and of course language pros like Tony. Then you have really really nice people like KC and junsheng and jerald and kenneth and me (lol). And the funny guys like Ben Low and Eugene who are both also very hardworking. The sporty people include Ben Yong, Mark... and music pros like Jinghui, Zhiyi, and all the musical grp ppl. haha. THREE Percussionists in our class... Basically, it's a great class who do not need a class outing to get bonded together. Have to thank this class for giving me the opportunity to become treasurer as well although i must say i did a horrid job. ><

4. Gang of 6 Pros.
ok. cheesy name or so my bro would say. but that is another matter. the name is only there for reference. What really makes the difference is the people. Let's see what we are made of.

Jerald HAN:
Funny character with lots, lots, lots of jokes and speaks and sings and errr... bitches in so many different ways... haha. fast thinker on his feet. He's a social creature or that's what he says. but i agree. what's the use of telling a joke to yourself. haha. But his jokes are really funny and he himself is a joke. (Hmm...). haha. overall, very nice to be with. you never feel bored with him around. (:

Kenneth YONG:
Interesting character. Loudspeaker is his main job but he has many other secret jobs. haha. like making pro videos of his Europe trip and arranging his soft toys and music folders... haha. A very organized person to say the very least. Very funny at times too. When he's inspired, he can be realllyyyyy funny. just read his blog posts. haha. Then, of course, he's a really great friend who doesn't mind lending a helping hand. Very pro in his studies too. haha. working with him for english and history projects were great. (: of course, since he's a loudspeaker, u also never get bored with him around. haha. probably cuz his ranting is also very interesting. hahaha... xD

LjS:
I guess he was the one who replaced Edward in 2H. Hmm.. Edward was a really great friend. truthful and very nice, helpful... haha... I think LjS is really like Edward. Maybe they quarrel with each other at times but they are really similar in nature. Maybe that's why I would say he was the closest friend of mine in 3B... Once again, very organized like Edward... Maybe the only difference I can spot is handwriting. Edward's handwriting is errr... haha untidy but junsheng's small... but who cares. as long as they don't become my students, i don't care... (:

KC:
One of the greatest leaders I've seen in real life. haha. He was a really great monitor and he really acted as a role model. Very nice and kind as well. aiyah. let's just make it simple and say he's really really really nice. (:

Dennis:
haha. kept talking to him in term 1 and 2 until change of seats. errr... doesnt really talk much which makes him a good listener. haha. makes some really lame jokes at times... and errr... ya. very nice also... haha... i need to check for synonyms of like...

5. IBN experience
Not exactly the best way to spend your june holidays but it has indeed allowed me to experience working and researching. haha. the times spent going to holland V. and Ghim Moh and sneaking in and out of the pantry and stuff... haha. den there were the pinball games between yingjie, aaron and me which i always won... LOL. ok not really always. but whatever... it was still great working with Rensheng. He's a really nice guy. gotta go down and visit him one day... den there was Ji Qing and Cao Qi who were also very willing to help us... Oh. and who can forget the nights we spent in IBN working to 10pm at times... It was tiring and boring at times but at least there were friends around me and at least i can say that i can work from 8am to 10pm... YAY. >< ok. that's not really such an achievement. but whatever. It's thanks to IBN that we won RE congress gold and get a chance to present in the VIP session. haha only sec 3 grp there leh. give some credit... haha...

6. Taiwan Trip
Woah. The most meaningful overseas trip I've ever gone for so far. You really get inspired by the way they work and stuff... Learnt lots of stuff there. Felt a large sense of achievement on the last day and made lots of friendships which crossed borders in many ways. For a week of work, the rewards were endless.

7. Results
Oh my. haha. best results ever gotten since I entered RI. I came into RI as the 2nd best in Maris Stella and like how I started in sec 1, I started slow. Not really the worst of the lot but at least I wasn't really that top. I remember in primary 1 and 2, how I got thrashed in even math by others. well, somehow i worked back to the top. Slowly but surely. P1 and P2, I wasn't really known for getting good results. P3, with the introduction of Science, though I didn't do too well, I got 2nd in class. P4, I was doing really well until the final year exam when i made a minor slip and got 4th in class. After that, I was in the best class of the cohort and in P5 i was i think top5 or at least top 10 in class. but at the end of the day, I got 2nd in class in P6 and 2nd in level for both school results and PSLE. quite an achievement. haha. Of course, primary school was rewarding not just because of the results. Im glad I made good friends who had good influence on me. Dewei, Max, ShiHao, YuDa... a lot of people... But back to secondary school. I started sec 1 with a rather low GPA, getting 3.67 in sem 1. Not really bad but not really good as well. In term 3, I once again worked hard and I remember topping the class in 3 CCTs, making me get a GPA of 3.83. Like always, the langauges and humanities pulled me down with my history, eng and chi getting the 3.6. But at least it was a great improvement from sem 1 and i think i was top few in 2H even though there were 2 4.0s in our class... I even almost topped Math too, getting 95. Unfortunately, another person got a 96 but he was about to skip sec 2 anyway so he's pro. haha. whatever. Then in sec 2, I began the year well, getting a 3.87 for sem 1 and scoring 100% for 2 ccts... That was really a bonus. But in sem2, I fell back to a 3.73 with my humanities pulling me down again. I remember telling myself to work harder for my english and indeed, my marks got pulled up from 70 to 76 which is not bad. But that sem, I did really badly for my geog and hist which resulted me in getting 2 79s, 1 78... not very good. Lots of people like Edward, Ying Jie and probably many more beat me. But this year, I think I've done really well. Except maybe for my languages and maybe a bit of history. But the others were fantastic. I never expected myself to get a GPA higher than 3.87 which i got in sec 2 sem 1 esp. with the introduction of RA and so many subjects. But guess what, I got a 3.87 in the end and that's without moderation. A really great job.

8. RE
RE has always been a great thing for me over the years in RI. In sec 1, it was great cuz i achieved an A+ which was quite rare. Den in sec 2, it was needless to say. It was an A+ plus SYSF best written report and best exhibit and YSC gold and RE congress semi-finalist and IRS gold. really great. Then, this year, couldn't really participate in much competitions because of confidentiality issues. but still, RE Congress gold medalist and VIP presenter. not bad. haha. didn't manage that in sec 2. It's been great working with Ying Jie and Aaron. Been working with Aaron for 2 years and Ying Jie for 3 years. Will be continuing to work with them next year with nigel fong as addition. haha. wonder what it would be like working with him. Hope my good streak continues...

9. CCA
This hasn't been really of a CCA year for me. Sec 1 was great cuz of SYF participation which was rare for a sec 1 to participate. Then sec 2 was great cuz of the many competitions in weiqi and of course who can forget the end-of-year concert. This year, it's been hard. Percussion's getting hard to handle with the exit of so many members but I guess that's how life goes. Then for weiqi, it hasn't been as active as sec2 when Shi Hao was chair. Now that i'm vice-chair, got to start working out a plan. It's gonna be hard but I guess next year will be a really hard year for me. Chess Club and CO are commonly viewed as the slack ccas and someone's got to change that. CO exco next year is great so im confident we can do it. As for chess club, it's up to us to beat mathematics club in recruiting people and although im officially in math club cuz of math RA, i feel much more affiliated to chess club and so does hong bo. But it takes much more than 2 to make a club. Next year will be a challenging year.

10. The future
It's still not the end of the year and there are much more stuff to come. First, CHaNg ChuN should be fun. hope it would be as rewarding as the taiwan trip. den RICO concert and possibly Raffles Perc concert would be on and that would mean fun practice and stuff... then it would be PSL preparation so it's gonna be really hectic but im sure it would be rewarding.

Well, there were lots of other new things this year like DMP but these were the things which I really think made Year 3 in RI such a great one. (:

Love 3B!

ok. gotta go now. hope it rains tml. I love rain... xD

post-eoy

Hmm.

Long time no update.

haha. ok. errrr... quite a lot to say but forgot a lot too and dunno where to start from...

ok. shall introduce 2 very interesting games that i just found on the net...

Chaos Faction

Click here to play this game

Playing with Fire 2

Click here to play this game

ok. errrr... so what have i done during the slacking period... practically nothing. haha. errrr... guess it was all wasted with games like those above which are brilliant time wasters and of course minesweeper when u get so pissed when u play the EXPERT version and come to the last FOUR boxes and then come to a dead end. and it gets even more irritating if you get one wrong... >< and so must restart again... lol sian...

today went to kenneth's house to play. played bridge and dai di and errrr... unostacko or whatever u call it and of course... BLUFF. haha. so fun.

results were all right. could have done better for my bio but im happy i scraped my 4.0 (im not suanning you. ^^) but was quite happy with my phy and chem although i lost to SOMEONE in chem... haha. nvm. still quite happy with my results. english was all right i guess. did average and managed to scrape my 3.6 as well, unlike last year... >< so tml will be SS, Hist and Math. Hope my SS won't be screwed. Heard half of the cohort failed... AHHH...

ok. what else shall i say...

oh interclass soccer. haha.
3B INTERCLASS TEAM TOTALLY OWNS! (: haha.

SMP's getting a little irritating again with the very tedious sign up procedure. Hope it won't turn out like this year where we were screwed for the first two months until we (finally) found ourselves a project...

weiqi on sat was great. managed to beat zhang yao. yay. quite tyco though. thot i was losing or at least it was close until he started attacking a bit too close to my wai shi in my opinion and managed to kill him. Game amounted to errr... 1.5 hr ++... haha.

den there was CO practice with chen wei. haha. first time. he is some brilliant musician who knows the ji ben gong to every instrument. omg-osh... he can easily own anyone with a bit of practice.

Then there was Dwen An reflections. haha sigh. i want to go taiwan again... >< ME WANT TO GO TAIWAN!!! haix. nvm... reflections were ok except that there were some parts when we didnt really pay attention with a shirt, a tennis ball, a newspaper and maybe a sheet of paper and a pencil acting as the main distractions. haha. but overall, quite ok... i just wanna go back taiwan...

Hmm.. what else to talk about? jiang class getting larger and larger. haha. i met my old pal from 6H class in there! haha. but very sad. he had forgotten me. oh that said, i shld be adding his msn. wait. k added. so many ppl coming to our class for replacement. (:

oh errr... POST-EOY ACTIVITIES.

haha. DISC was fun. think it was really an interesting way of self-evaluation unlike the usual questions and just rate from 1-5 with 1 being strongly disagree and 5 being strongly agree making the results sound really unreliable. then there was the 3 hr games where i just randomly went around playing soccer and badminton... haha. omg. i fail at sports...

den there was the PSL workshop which was quite boring except the really fun and funny part where people had to pass a message on by acting it out. haha. so fun! Advertisements for next years RE was also there...

oh ya. the really interesting NE quiz and play. For once, i enjoyed doing the NE quiz. haha. at least i could work towards something although it wasnt much. then the play staged by REJECT SUPERSTARS were absolutely SUPERSTAR standard. haha. DAMN FUNNY. they totally give jerald a run for his money... haix. got competition liao jerald. must work harder... the ending could have been better though. it was those really cliched happy ending...

den arts appreciation was ok. CO was a bit boring. but that was cuz there was only like a few people in that CO for representation of each instrument. but the vocal grp was really great. haha. Charles totally owned the day with his performance. pro.

I suddenly want to go to vivocity. ok wth. i want to sleep. there are some things i would like to blog about but i guess i would leave them for later. but for NOW, u can be assured that my blog is NOT dead. (:

im happy.

k bye. xD

end.

EOY HAS ENDED! haha...

can't believe it. so happy.

today was physics and bio.

Physics was quite simple and except for some dumb errors like rounding up 2.74 to 2.70 when it shld be 2.7 lol. found one error in MCQ too. but since i have at least 3 marks from bonus, i still have a chance of getting a rather high mark. (:

But bio was ARGH. walao. im sure. my MCQ for the last 3 ccts, no errors at all. This time, I found 10 errors in 40 questions. that's 10 marks gone... ><. i know my iron lung question whole thing wrong so that is once again 2+1+2+2=7 marks. My DNA band question i also dunno so 3 marks. then, the first structured question on the gills i think i got it partly correct so maybe another 2 marks gone. omg. that's like 21 marks gone already. and how about the rest? i need a 76 mark for my dumb eoy and now my max mark stays at 80 (got 1 bonus mark). RARH. this is gonna be hard man. I think I'll miss 4.0 by a bit. AHHHH!!! NOOOO!!! I can't believe i got the cilia question wrong though. think i was too stressed over the toughest paper in eoy. sigh... hope teachers will mark more leniently. i really want my 4.0. RARH.

but i guess it's over now and nothing can be said about it. sigh... to think i think i did well for 7 papers and last paper screw up. lol. a lot of structured question i didnt have a clue what they were trying to say. OH! THAT REMINDS ME OF THE HEART QUESTION. omg. the picture looked so unclear with random lines. I had no idea at all which was which tube so may have another 2 marks gone there. my systole/disatole may also wrong and that's 3 marks. the stupid question on what would the patient lose if he is permanantly on the dumb iron lung also 2 marks. HAIX. i think i no hope getting 4.0 liao la. ><

sigh. ):

nvm. it's all over. can enjoy life once again. (:

k bye.

GOOD LUCK!

nites to all u mugging peeps out there! haha. good luck! just 2 more to go!

bio

ok guess what. just finished revising bio. except for enzymes so i guess i'll revise here.

1. Metabolism
Anabolism = building up from small to large substance
Catabolism = breaking down of large to small substance

Exergonic = stored to free energy
Endergonic = Free to stored energy

2. Enzymes
Helps to speed up chemical reactions without being altered in the process.

Factors:
a. Substrate concentration / Enzyme concentration
b. Temperature - optimum because as temperature rises, particles move faster and have more energy so easily to reach transition state and the required activation energy. but enzymes denature permanently if temperature too high
c. pH

Initial rates of reactions: Tangent to x=0

3. INDUSTRIAL USES
a. Why use biological catalysts instead of inorganic catalysts?
- Highly specific, will not create too much waste products
- High turnover rates. Small amount of enzymes still produce large amounts of products
- Work at normal temperature and pH so less energy input required -> cheaper

b. Why use enzymes from microorganisms?
- They live in a variety of habitats so can find those which can withstand extreme physical conditions such as extreme temperatures or pH
- Grown economically in bulk fermenters (cheaper)
- Grows rapidly and high enzyme to mass ratio
- Easily genetically modified
- Growth not limited by climate or season

c. Why cell-free instead of whole-cell preparations
Advantage:
- No unwanted byproducts produced by other enzymes of microorgnisms (not that enzymes are not specific)
- Products do not get built up and used in microorganism. So higher productivity.

Disadvantage:
- Hard to extract enzyme
- Unstable

d. Why use immobilised enzymes?
- So that products can be enzyme free.
- Enzymes are more stable and can last longer
- Enzymes can be reused (cheaper)

e. Industrial Uses
- Biological detergents (with enzymes like proteases, lipases, celluloses... stored in capsules that only release contents when there is water because they cause irritance)
- Medical treatment for thromboses (atherosclerosis -> blood clotting -> use enzymes to dissolve blood clots)
- Analytical uses (e.g. Test for glucose conc. in urine. Glucose oxidase, peroxidase.)
- Fruit juice production (increases productivity by 20%)
- Lactose-free milk (some people cannot produce lactase in their pancreatic juices. so they have to consume lactose free milk so that no bacteria acts on lactose to cause diarrhea. so pass milk through immobilised lactase)
- High sucrose juice?

lol. ok. DONE. wth. so long. and this is just a small part of a big topic.

k bye.

Patrick

1 day left

One more day!!! JUST ONE!!! RARH! omg. im loving it.

im not sure about u guys out there, but this EOY seems to be much less stressful than the previous CT1 and CT2 last year. Wonder why. Maybe because for this entire year, I've been making notes and making sure I know the concepts well instead of plain mugging which made me get a gpa of 3.73 last year. haha. i remember last year, i was soooooo stressed over geog i spent two whole days mugging everything memorising the whole stack of notes, knowing which page it was on, what was the exact phrasing and result? - 22.5/30 for ct2. i slept at 2 and i misread a 6m question. lol.

so this time, i decided to adopt a new approach, that is progressive mugging! haha. this was especially helped with the presence of DMP and although i have many more hours than most people, my free hours allowed me to either study or rest which meant that i could actually start studying for eoys 4 weeks before it actually started.

I actually did a timetable like most would do but once again i didnt follow it. But still I managed to catch up, doing stuff that are more interesting first so that i can do the less interesting stuff later on (such as memorising) when the pressure comes in and im actually pressurised to go memorise. But guess what, all the notes i made for bio, chem, history, SS... they all came in handy and to put it shortly, i saved much memorising work with the notes and now i not only understand the concepts, but save much more brain space which makes me more relaxed.

I think I've done well for all my papers so far and since i have some time today (not really... but i cant get started yet...) I can talk a bit about the papers...

ENGLISH:
It was an ok paper and I think I managed my time really well. They gave quite a lot of time so I decided to read the passage REALLY slowly and understand what it really means. For the questions, I think I answered them to the best of my ability and I can say that I think I will have no regrets whatever the result is. As for the essay, im glad that i managed to write quite a lot of content and i guess a bit of literary device and i guess it is once again the best that i can do given my limited abilities in my languages. So good job there. Hope to get a 3.6 grade.

SS:
It was once again an ok paper. The first question was a bit tricky but when I read the sources, I understood how democracy can help in citizen-armies and after that it was all quite easy as my notes and the SS lesson we had the day b4 literally flowed out of my brain. So once again, great job there. Think no problems getting my 4.0 grade with my high CA score as well.

Chinese:
Chinese was I guess the hardest paper I've taken so far and once again it is due to my lousy languages. But once again, I must count myself lucky for remembering all the words and yan yu and stuff. Also, I seemed to have gotten a few compre questions correct although im not sure cuz the answers vary greatly amongst people... But, I guess I did my best.

Chem:
Easy paper. Only regret is that I did not study steps to take for chromatography. Sigh. i think the bonus question was quite easy. No problems for 4.0 once again i guess...

Math:
Math today was ok. The paper was quite easy but i don't know why i had a bit of a headache and so i did slower than i used to. Maybe another reason was that I did not practice much math the day before because I had practiced quite a bit the weeks before and there was history. But still, managed to finish the paper with 30 mins left. Took a look at the bonus question and decided it was not worth doing so i checked my answers and found a few mistakes which i corrected one of which i found in the last minute and managed to correct it but handwriting a bit cannot read so i dont know whether teacher will give me the mark. still, think no problems getting a 70 mark which i need for 4.0.

History:
I always knew that this and bio would be the most critical papers i would be taking because the other papers were quite hard to change grade. Most would stay at the grade of the CA. I thought I did a great job given that I did not memorise any examples or elaborations for different questions like i did for sec 2. All I forgot to do during the test which I can think of now was that I forgot to provide an example for how medicine has increased the lifespan of people although i did mention about black death and SARS and compared it in my ending paragraph. I need to get 34/40 here so it's gonna be hard but I think I did a great job. Never thought I would write 3 and 1/4 pages for a SBQ and 1 and a 1/2 page for SEQ. Hand pain.

so last up is bio and phy. Physics should be ok cuz my CA is quite high. Think i only need to get around 55 for my 4.0 although i would be definitely be aiming for around 70+. A bit of revision of formulas should do and maybe practice. Bio just go through my notes again, try to remember the respiration and transport in humans stuff which i am most unfamilar with and maybe try out the papers or just read the answers of the papers.

ok. One day left. We can do it.

hi

wow. guess what. im starting to get confident for history. haha. wth. and i havent even studied content. but anyway, way of answering questions:

SBQ:
Step 1: Identify type of qn (yes/no or factor question)
Step 2: Group sources based on yes/no/both or factors
Step 3: Think of any Contextual Knowledge that u can add... more info to examples?
Step 4: Reliability of 1 or more sources and why (can compare to CK, biased?, one-sided?)
Step 5: Come up with criterion and stand
Step 6: Write essay (hope front 5 steps don't take more than 5 minutes and reading of sources 5 mins too)

SEQ:
Step 1: Identify type of qn
Step 2: Come out with factors
Step 3: write. lol. and think of elaboration/examples/link on the way
Step 4: Criteria + Stand

guess that would be the thought process during the exams.

Anyway, let's try to remember some factors:

SR-was there one?
YES - Marxist, Non-marxist, Hall-of-fame
NO - Evolutionary approach, not popular (so cannot be revolution), limited impact (application)

SR - what made it?
Renaissance -> Humanism -> Reformation -> Scientific Revolution (which includes 1.
development of scientific method and intellectual developments is phy, chem, bio, combined)

other not so important - age of discovery (voyages)

Some great examples for SR -
Copernicus - heliocentric theory
Galileo - heliocentric theory (but not infallible genius cuz he also denied Kepler's claim that planets orbit in an oval shape), telescope (aided in research)
Newton - the laws of motion
Darwin (BIO) - Theory of Evolution

ok. i blog until halfway dont feel like blogging liao. haha bye.

2 days

2 days left!! two!!

anyway, today's papers were ok. chinese was quite unsure a lot of things but nvm bah... since everybody also unsure...

den chem was quite simple except i feel so stupid that i go the thompson/dalton question wrong cuz it's 50% chance of getting it correct... even higher than multiple choice...

but still, good job.

Today is math and history mugging day.

Shall start with history, go on to math b4 back to history.

but i want to sleep too. ):

RARH. nvm we'll see how. bye.

chem

ok wth. i want to blog but i want to mug chem too...

RESULT: A CHEM-RELATED BLOG POST.

Chem bonding:

Things to know:
1. The types of bondings and their properties
2. Allotropes
3. Alloys
4. Coordinate bond / Dative bond??
5. errr... Electronegativity of atoms

sigh. ok. nvm. i decided not to blog anymore.

aha. how ironic. BYE!

Patrick

omggg.

omg. i feel super efficient today. I FINISHED BIO MUGGING! omg... that's so pro.

but guess what, i have not started chem and chinese yet... it's like omg. it's 4 already. so...

i shall just start with chinese mugging which would most probably be remugging since i have already mugged before. take until 5 bah...

THEN, CHEM MUGGING. i admit chem is much easier than bio but still.. a lot of stuff. so it's going to be hard. but i think i can do it.

Topics to be covered:
1. Kinetic Theory
2. Experimental Chem
3. Atomic Structure
4. Chemical Bonding
5. Mole Concept
6. Acids n Bases
7. Redox Reactions

I think im quite good at kinetic theory as in it's a short topic. Other topics is gonna be hard but well, when there's a will, there's a wei.

haix. chinese mugging now. sian...

bye.

RARH. guess what. i havent even finished mugging my own notes. WTH. walaoooo... bio is damn hard. i hate it. memorising is never my forte. sigh. still stuck with biological molecules so i decided to first move on to respiration and im stuck AGAIN.

I've finished:
1. Heredity and molecular genetics
2. DNAfingerprinting
3. Plant Physiology
4. 1/2 of Biological Molecules
5. 1/2 of respiration.

wth. still a long way to go. MUST HURRY!

bio

today's bio day! zzz...

ok. timetable if i can follow.

now-1100: read thru my notes
1100-1230: attempt all the practice questions

lunch

130-230: read thru tb
230-330: final revision

and the rest of the time is for anything i have left if i procrastinate or if the time allocated is too little...

omgosh. and i NEED to study chinese! ><

RARH! =)

bye.

Patrick

finally history is @70%

okay. once again im slower than my "timetable".

But I'm happy. At least I think I get the concepts of history. Just need to study some elaboration and examples and study how to answer questions and i guess im ready to go.

Those who want history notes can ask from me. But trust me, you wouldnt understand what im writing... (:

lol. k bye. read thru my notes once b4 sleep.

2 down 6 to go.

5 more days guys! JUST 5!

today was SS and Eng paper.

Eng went all right and I guess it could have been much worse. I knew I had lots of time so I read the passage like ultra-slow. Lol. took almost 10 mins just to read the compre passage which was so short. den i did the question also very slow. But still, I finished it at 850 exact (they said don't spend more than 50 mins on the first qn). so i thot that went quite all right. although there were quite a few which i was unsure of, what's done is done and i can't expect too much with my standards of comprehension. So moved on to the personal commentary. I wrote lots of crap, with a lot of info coming from SS and even philo! LOL. I was thinking of controlling our emotions. >< but anyway, i thot i wrote an OK essay so I guess it could have been much worse.

Then, it was SS. SS went quite all right too. At first I was stuck at the first question which linked democracy with NS but in the end, I think I understood why is democracy impt for NS so that meant that I could just crap on that point and move on to other factors which I was more familiar with. The 2nd question was just regurgitation of the factors we learnt yesterday so I thot I wrote quite well for that. Although lacking in examples, I think I still did relatively well.

So 2 down, 6 to go.

Today, supposed to study history. So here goes,

230-330: Restudy history 2nd term work
330-530: Study history 3rd term work

REST

900-1000: Study previous history questions and revise history 2nd and 3rd term work
1000-1030: Study Chinese (which I have failed to do for the last 2 days). boo.

ok. but sad thing is I FORGOT TO HAND IN PASSPORT! WALAO... zzz... RARH.

ok so progress report 3:

Math [85%] Bio [65%] Chem [65%] Phy [80%] Hist [40%] SS [100%] Eng [100%] Chi [60%]

not bad. today, history will go up to 80%~.

okok. rest time till 230 b4 mugging begins (again).

5 days left guys!~ jiayou

Progress Report 2:
Math [80%] Bio [65%] Chem [65%] Phy [80%] Hist [40%] SS [10%] Eng [10%] Chi [60%]

Yesterday was not bad. I managed to mug finish all the chi stuff except a few more zao ju which i shall memorise on sunday itself or maybe sat or fri. But still it's a great job. Just need continued revision everyday for 1/2 hr. (:

AND... TODAY I GOT BACK EVEN BETTER RESULTS! (:

CHI wenhuafen: 10/10 (expected)

oh and yesterday never say my dmp mark for LINEAR ALGEBRA: 19/20! YAY! ANOTHER DISTINCTION FOR DMP! (:

dunno y i havent got back my physics modern optics one though...

but anyway, today is SS and ENG MUGGING DAY!

HOORAY!

so from 430-600: MUG SS DEMOCRACY

REST

900-1030 or 1100: MUG SS NS

EOY COUNTDOWN

8 DAYS LEFT TO END OF EOY!

today was kinda great. got back a few results and im quite happy with them.

SO.. FINAL CAs FOR SUBJECTS:
Math: 75.02
Bio: 83.01
Chem: 88.56
Physics: ~87.7 (if my PT get 12/15)
History: 76.51
SS: 89.48 (YAY)

This is really not bad. esp. happy with my SS, Chem and Physics. Bio is ok. Math also quite satisfied. It's history which would take a miracle to pull up given that there shouldnt be any moderation. RARH. ENG AND CHI ARE DEAD.

ok. i shall rest till 3 b4 mugging

3-330: Mug kewen 7,8
330-400: TING XIE all kewen
400-600: MUG ZHAO JUUUUU!!!!

REST

900-1000: Mug guan yong yu and yan yu
1000-1030: Overall TEST
1030-1100: STUDY errr... other stuff?

den early rest (i hope)... haix.

boo! (:

Today marked prometheum day. Hmm... Tony was emcee, Jerald band major, Eugene GE Chair, Barry Sci Club Chair, Shu Jian HML Chair, KC CEC council head.

omg. im so sad im not in the list. RARH.

but nvm. hope these guys really succeed in their new posts ya? WE WANT BETTER MUSICAL BONDING! lol.

anyway, i plan to finish studying my stupid yan yu and guan yong yu today. AND GET IT OUT OF MY SIGHT (after eoys). and THEN, I SHALL mug ci yu when kenneth sends me the doc (ok he has sent me). RARH. today's physics quiz was quite all right but it doesnt really matter even if it isn't. it's the cct which i think i screwed up GIGANTIC time.

So, compilation of marks (CA):
Math: 75.01
Chem: 88.56
Bio: 83.01
History: 76.51

English and Chinese probably low 3.6s... Physics and SS probably mid 4.0s depending on my project and cct scores... RARH.

that means i have to get:
Math: 70/80
Chem: 54/80
Bio: 76/100
History: 34/40 >< MADNESS!

to achieve my 4.0s (:

it's gonna be hard.

but when there's a will, there's a wei.

W, E, I, WEI, VOTE FOR XIONG WEI OF CLASS 3B!

Vote for Wang, NEVER LET YOU DOWNNNN!!!!

YEAHHH.... ><

haha. ok. tml ripb elections. may the best win ya?

k bye.
