ok. so yet another year has ended. wow. this year has been a great one for me... it's been totally magnificent. haha. best since P6 i think... though i lost many friends from 2H just like i did from 6H, like Edward, Rich, Yingjie, Aaron, I've managed to stay in contact with them and make many more friends...

so here goes...

What characterizes Year 3, RI:

1. OBS.
It wasn't exactly the most leisurely type of camp. Though it can't be said that it's too tough either... But it was definitely a great bonding session with my group. got to know many people. Ivan and his weird mathematical skills of memorising 8 digit numbers after it had been mentioned once, Mark for his superb strength, Bojian for his interesting way of speaking, Eugene the cool guy... and many more... I guess it was my willingness to help those in need that allowed me to bond with this group so well. Of course, there were many others which helped me like Mark cuz im so weak. haha... but overall, it was a great experience and finishing OBS was such an achievement

2. MathRA
The introduction of RA was great in 2 ways. Firstly, it meant that I could be in a academically better class... It certainly made me want to study more... and although we aren't as mugger as 3C who are totally MUGGER (just look at their whiteboard before ccts... ><), 3B is great. and of course math RA allowed me to really see what is a MATH PRO with Barry, Huiyao, Vincent, He Shi and many more people as evidence. haha. They totally own. Learnt much more in this class than before.

3. 3B.
3B is a very interesting class with lots of talents and diversity. At one end, you have the loudspeakers like Kenneth Yong and Lumpy and at the other end, you have the imba people like Barry who got 4 subjects above 90. Then you have the people who are pro in chinese like Erdong and the china scholars and of course com pros like Long, Gia, Shu Jian and of course language pros like Tony. Then you have really really nice people like KC and junsheng and jerald and kenneth and me (lol). And the funny guys like Ben Low and Eugene who are both also very hardworking. The sporty people include Ben Yong, Mark... and music pros like Jinghui, Zhiyi, and all the musical grp ppl. haha. THREE Percussionists in our class... Basically, it's a great class who do not need a class outing to get bonded together. Have to thank this class for giving me the opportunity to become treasurer as well although i must say i did a horrid job. ><

4. Gang of 6 Pros.
ok. cheesy name or so my bro would say. but that is another matter. the name is only there for reference. What really makes the difference is the people. Let's see what we are made of.

Jerald HAN:
Funny character with lots, lots, lots of jokes and speaks and sings and errr... bitches in so many different ways... haha. fast thinker on his feet. He's a social creature or that's what he says. but i agree. what's the use of telling a joke to yourself. haha. But his jokes are really funny and he himself is a joke. (Hmm...). haha. overall, very nice to be with. you never feel bored with him around. (:

Kenneth YONG:
Interesting character. Loudspeaker is his main job but he has many other secret jobs. haha. like making pro videos of his Europe trip and arranging his soft toys and music folders... haha. A very organized person to say the very least. Very funny at times too. When he's inspired, he can be realllyyyyy funny. just read his blog posts. haha. Then, of course, he's a really great friend who doesn't mind lending a helping hand. Very pro in his studies too. haha. working with him for english and history projects were great. (: of course, since he's a loudspeaker, u also never get bored with him around. haha. probably cuz his ranting is also very interesting. hahaha... xD

LjS:
I guess he was the one who replaced Edward in 2H. Hmm.. Edward was a really great friend. truthful and very nice, helpful... haha... I think LjS is really like Edward. Maybe they quarrel with each other at times but they are really similar in nature. Maybe that's why I would say he was the closest friend of mine in 3B... Once again, very organized like Edward... Maybe the only difference I can spot is handwriting. Edward's handwriting is errr... haha untidy but junsheng's small... but who cares. as long as they don't become my students, i don't care... (:

KC:
One of the greatest leaders I've seen in real life. haha. He was a really great monitor and he really acted as a role model. Very nice and kind as well. aiyah. let's just make it simple and say he's really really really nice. (:

Dennis:
haha. kept talking to him in term 1 and 2 until change of seats. errr... doesnt really talk much which makes him a good listener. haha. makes some really lame jokes at times... and errr... ya. very nice also... haha... i need to check for synonyms of like...

5. IBN experience
Not exactly the best way to spend your june holidays but it has indeed allowed me to experience working and researching. haha. the times spent going to holland V. and Ghim Moh and sneaking in and out of the pantry and stuff... haha. den there were the pinball games between yingjie, aaron and me which i always won... LOL. ok not really always. but whatever... it was still great working with Rensheng. He's a really nice guy. gotta go down and visit him one day... den there was Ji Qing and Cao Qi who were also very willing to help us... Oh. and who can forget the nights we spent in IBN working to 10pm at times... It was tiring and boring at times but at least there were friends around me and at least i can say that i can work from 8am to 10pm... YAY. >< ok. that's not really such an achievement. but whatever. It's thanks to IBN that we won RE congress gold and get a chance to present in the VIP session. haha only sec 3 grp there leh. give some credit... haha...

6. Taiwan Trip
Woah. The most meaningful overseas trip I've ever gone for so far. You really get inspired by the way they work and stuff... Learnt lots of stuff there. Felt a large sense of achievement on the last day and made lots of friendships which crossed borders in many ways. For a week of work, the rewards were endless.

7. Results
Oh my. haha. best results ever gotten since I entered RI. I came into RI as the 2nd best in Maris Stella and like how I started in sec 1, I started slow. Not really the worst of the lot but at least I wasn't really that top. I remember in primary 1 and 2, how I got thrashed in even math by others. well, somehow i worked back to the top. Slowly but surely. P1 and P2, I wasn't really known for getting good results. P3, with the introduction of Science, though I didn't do too well, I got 2nd in class. P4, I was doing really well until the final year exam when i made a minor slip and got 4th in class. After that, I was in the best class of the cohort and in P5 i was i think top5 or at least top 10 in class. but at the end of the day, I got 2nd in class in P6 and 2nd in level for both school results and PSLE. quite an achievement. haha. Of course, primary school was rewarding not just because of the results. Im glad I made good friends who had good influence on me. Dewei, Max, ShiHao, YuDa... a lot of people... But back to secondary school. I started sec 1 with a rather low GPA, getting 3.67 in sem 1. Not really bad but not really good as well. In term 3, I once again worked hard and I remember topping the class in 3 CCTs, making me get a GPA of 3.83. Like always, the langauges and humanities pulled me down with my history, eng and chi getting the 3.6. But at least it was a great improvement from sem 1 and i think i was top few in 2H even though there were 2 4.0s in our class... I even almost topped Math too, getting 95. Unfortunately, another person got a 96 but he was about to skip sec 2 anyway so he's pro. haha. whatever. Then in sec 2, I began the year well, getting a 3.87 for sem 1 and scoring 100% for 2 ccts... That was really a bonus. But in sem2, I fell back to a 3.73 with my humanities pulling me down again. I remember telling myself to work harder for my english and indeed, my marks got pulled up from 70 to 76 which is not bad. But that sem, I did really badly for my geog and hist which resulted me in getting 2 79s, 1 78... not very good. Lots of people like Edward, Ying Jie and probably many more beat me. But this year, I think I've done really well. Except maybe for my languages and maybe a bit of history. But the others were fantastic. I never expected myself to get a GPA higher than 3.87 which i got in sec 2 sem 1 esp. with the introduction of RA and so many subjects. But guess what, I got a 3.87 in the end and that's without moderation. A really great job.

8. RE
RE has always been a great thing for me over the years in RI. In sec 1, it was great cuz i achieved an A+ which was quite rare. Den in sec 2, it was needless to say. It was an A+ plus SYSF best written report and best exhibit and YSC gold and RE congress semi-finalist and IRS gold. really great. Then, this year, couldn't really participate in much competitions because of confidentiality issues. but still, RE Congress gold medalist and VIP presenter. not bad. haha. didn't manage that in sec 2. It's been great working with Ying Jie and Aaron. Been working with Aaron for 2 years and Ying Jie for 3 years. Will be continuing to work with them next year with nigel fong as addition. haha. wonder what it would be like working with him. Hope my good streak continues...

9. CCA
This hasn't been really of a CCA year for me. Sec 1 was great cuz of SYF participation which was rare for a sec 1 to participate. Then sec 2 was great cuz of the many competitions in weiqi and of course who can forget the end-of-year concert. This year, it's been hard. Percussion's getting hard to handle with the exit of so many members but I guess that's how life goes. Then for weiqi, it hasn't been as active as sec2 when Shi Hao was chair. Now that i'm vice-chair, got to start working out a plan. It's gonna be hard but I guess next year will be a really hard year for me. Chess Club and CO are commonly viewed as the slack ccas and someone's got to change that. CO exco next year is great so im confident we can do it. As for chess club, it's up to us to beat mathematics club in recruiting people and although im officially in math club cuz of math RA, i feel much more affiliated to chess club and so does hong bo. But it takes much more than 2 to make a club. Next year will be a challenging year.

10. The future
It's still not the end of the year and there are much more stuff to come. First, CHaNg ChuN should be fun. hope it would be as rewarding as the taiwan trip. den RICO concert and possibly Raffles Perc concert would be on and that would mean fun practice and stuff... then it would be PSL preparation so it's gonna be really hectic but im sure it would be rewarding.

Well, there were lots of other new things this year like DMP but these were the things which I really think made Year 3 in RI such a great one. (:

Love 3B!

ok. gotta go now. hope it rains tml. I love rain... xD
