history cct

Driving Forces for the development of medicine
1. Religion
2. Technological advancements, education, profits?
3. Industrial revolution which led to specification of jobs
4. Necessity (e.g. plagues, wars) -> cause scientists to need to come up with new observations and experiments to come up with a correct treatment
5. Government

A-bomb
Pro:
1. To save lives (more fire bombing or an invasion would cause more deaths) - japanese resistance
2. USSR played no pat in the occupation of jap
3. Prevented future use of nuclear weapons when stockpiles were much larger
4. Counter CON1: too risky to waste a bomb

Con:
1. Prevention (could use demonstration, or at least 2nd one was useless)
2. It was used more to justify the money spent
3. Counter Pro 1: Jap were about to surrender and conditional surrender, which was what was achieved, could have been achieved much earlier even without the use of a-bomb
4. Counter Pro 2: sacrifice so many lives just for power politics?
