Logic 101:
Q: After the 100th post on a blog, what will the next post be?
A: The 101th post.
And yes so it is. This is the 101th post. Didn't have time to gloat about this success in the last post as there was just too much to write for OBS. hahaha. Well, overall OBS was really fun but tiring. It does make you start to appreciate the things around you though. I never appreciated the fact that I had such good water to drink, such a nice bed to sleep on... It's this sort of "back to basics" that made me start to appreciate what I have. Well, I would just like to share some of the very interesting stories our instructor for Cheng Ho, Samuel, told us... He is a really good motivator and he really inspired me throughout the course...
1. There are 3 types of days in a man's lifetime. Yesterday, today and tomorrow. A man has all the physical and mental strength needed to tackle one day. Everyone can do so. It is the frustrations of what you haven't done or have done wrong in the yesterdays and the worries about what you wouldn't be able to do or what you would do wrong in the tomorrows that really hinder a man from tackling the only day that can be tackled - today. There is nothing you can do about the yesterdays. Nothing can be done to change the past. There is also nothing you can do about tomorrow until you complete today. Thus, one should always tackle today because it is after all the only day that can be tackled.
2. Heaven and hell have meals at the same time, in the same conditions and with the same materials and tools. The people in both places had 1 meter spoons each, all had 5 minutes to eat and had more than sufficient food. However, it was found out that the people of hell were all skinny and sickly. The people of heaven, however, were plump and healthy. Why this difference? It was because the people in heaven fed each other while the people of hell were too selfish. The people of hell managed to take the food up. However, they did not manage to put it into their own mouths. They tried and tried but they failed. The people in heaven, however, took up the food and fed others from 1 meter away. Sometimes, these people who fed others went hungry. However, they took turns and they all ate sufficient food.
3. The mosquito is one of the noblest creatures on Earth. They risk their lives and do everything they can to suck human blood. They have a very big possibility of losing their lives in doing this but they still do it. They don't do it for themselves. They don't need the blood. They only need the blood to produce offsprings. And it is this that makes them the noblest creatures on Earth. They risk their lives and do whatever needed not for themselves, but for others.
4. A child and his father went up a mountain. At the top of the mountain, the child shouted his name. To his surprise, he heard his name shouted back (echo). The child told his father, "Daddy! He has the same name as me!" Unhappy that the person had the same name as him, the child started scolding the person. To his surprise again, the person scolded the child back in the exact same words. Angry, the child told his father, "Father! The person is scolding me!" In a soft tone, the father told his child, "Child, why not try to say sorry to him?" Taken aback but still doing what his father told him to do, the child shouted sorry. The person also shouted "sorry".
haha. nice stories, although I don't think I really told them really well. Would have been better if Samuel told them. hahaha. His expression, tone and everything is really cool. haha. Anyway, there are a few more stories but I can't seem to remember them. Hope you will get inspired and motivated like I was by these stories.
Oh yes. and do tag. haha. my blog turning dead liao... =(
